Yesterday, my mom complained that our room has too many mosquitoes. I asked her why, when she never sleeps inside our room. She told me that my son has mosquito bites. I was shocked with what she said when I always stayed at our room most of the time. So, I told her I am going to have the room sprayed so that the mosquitoes, if there’s any, will be killed.

When morning came, we were so surprised to see that the suspected mosquito bites spread all over his body including his face. That is when we realized that those were not mosquito bites but chicken pox blisters! So we decided not to send him to school. Since he didn’t have fever, we didn’t go to the doctor for check-up and decided to wait it out. But tonight, he incurred fever that is why I will be bringing him to the doctor tomorrow.

Since he has two siblings, I have asked him to at least keep distance especially with our youngest who is still a baby. He understands about his situation, so he just spent his time watching Discovery channel the whole day.

My son has been complaining about having acne all the time, he said that he feels inferior about it. No matter how much I tell him that it’s part of adolescence, he seems not convinced. We have tried a number of home-made remedies and over the counter drugs to help him prevent from having breakouts, but we cannot really do anything since he has to pass through this stage. I told him that if worst comes to worst, he might need a dermatologist to prescribe him the right drug for acnes. However, taking precaution is the best way to combat further problems especially when taking medications, there’s an online article I read about the implications that a strong dosage can do to a person, and it also mentioned about an accutane lawyer, who handles cases for people that are victim of the negative side effects of this drug. Accutane is only for severe acne infection, however it does have a bad side to it, if pregnant women takes this, there’s a big chance that their babies would develop complications and worst permanent damage. Like what I explain to my child, it doesn’t really matter if he has a lot of acne on his face because this is just a phase.

On the 4th of February, we celebrate the World’s Cancer Day with the theme “Cancer can be prevented too,” promoting the prevention of cancer through healthy habits. The International Union Against Cancer (UICC) is focusing on reducing the risk of developing cancer, by raising cancer awareness, it should encourage people to get checked for early detection, treatment and prevention. It is said that each year, over 12 million people are diagnosed with cancer, and most of them feels so helpless. But UICC aims to change this mindset by promoting simple measures by stopping tobacco use and avoid second-hand smoke exposure, limiting alcohol consumption, and forget about getting too much tan as it can cause skin cancer, balanced diet and regular exercise. This should address future challenges in preventing acquiring cancer.

I think, most of you will agree that prevention is better than cure if we advocate within ourselves a healthy lifestyle. Which reminds me today’s teaching in church; Pastor Bon mentioned about the revival of herbal medicines but in a more improved technology because we can now find Lagundi in capsule. God is truly amazing, he knows what we just need!

One of my students mentioned to me about my being blessed for having my children, even if it was at an early age of 19, at first I thought it was absurd. But through our conversation, I learned that she’s been having problems having a baby, and this has been a cause of the strain in her marriage. I felt bad about her, because she could have been a wonderful mother and also that she’s still young.

Almost 10% of women experience problems with conception and the most common cause is poor egg quality. Understanding this condition will help both husband and wife to cope with their inability to conceive a child, with the help of information that can also be found at Fertility Articles, you can read a lot of helpful topics that would also serve as a guide before making a decision and there will be no need to spend expensive consultations because you can have everything you want to know about fertility problems with just the click of the mouse, or if you want to get some knowledge first before going to the doctor. The site is very user friendly and you won’t be lost in navigating the site, because everything is properly placed, and the color is not straining to the eyes.

Most of the time couples who are unable to conceive would think of trying out artificial procedures to increase their egg production to give them the chance to have a baby, informative articles will help you understand other alternatives such as In Vitro Fertilization, a procedure that will increase your chances of having a baby of your own.

Our conversation ended with baby topics, and I wished that I could really lend her my ability to conceive a child (no pun intended), but she’s not losing hope because she’s going through medical procedures to make her dream of having a child possible.

If your baby is cranky, fussy or seems to be crying for no reason at all, chances are and if you just bottle fed the child, the discomfort could be a cause of colic.

Before you panic, what you need to do is to feel the child’s stomach, if it seems distended, it’s a sign that a child is experiencing gas pain or flatulence.

Bottlefed babies or children tends to swallow large amounts of air and is the usual cause of stomach pain in babies, this can also happen to babies who suck on pacifieers and empty bottles -so mommies watch out! This dilemma is the same as an adult’s experience, air is trapped in the digestive tract that causes the discomfort, unlike adults, we can sit in upright position or induce the air to come out, babies don’t know how to do this and are often lying on their backs most of the time.

A good way to release air from the baby’s tummy is by a gentle massage. Most mommies use eucalyptus oils, however, this is a very strong chemical that may cause the child’s skin to burn. It is advisable to use baby oils instead.

Next is burping the child. After you’ve fed the baby, you can put the baby on an upright position on your shoulder and gently do a backrub, two things might happen; burp or fart.

Last is tummy rolls and baby bends. I have tried this before and it has proved to be effective in several occassions. You must be on a seating position and put the child on your lap and rested on your bossom, gently rub the child’s tummy and gently bend the baby forward. This should squeeze out the air.

Always keep an extra baby towel ready, most of the time they burp with milk.
